Is there anything any sweeter..........

Weekend Update:

Not much to report.  Saturday, Dwayne spent the day mowing hay.  I started to clean up around our front door where I had painted.  (I'm a messy painter...........)  But a book I had been reading kept calling my name and it was such a nice day out.  So I spent the day in the porch swing reading.  Felt great to be outside and enjoy the cooler weather.
Sunday, I went to church.  After church, I went to J.C. Penney's and found some good buys for Christmas.  Then went to Big Lots and didn't find anything.  After that, I went to visit my Aunt Geri Williams.  She is the only living aunt on my Mom's side of the family.  Along with Daddy, they're the only ones of that generation still here.  Aunt Geri had been in the hospital for a couple of weeks but seemed to be doing well while I was there.  We even visited without her having to put her oxygen on.
Dad supplied supper.  A good friend of ours, Tim Brummett brought down to Dad a peach cobbler and a pan of Lasagne his friend, Steffanie had made.  They had visited Dad the week before and she wanted to make something for Dad.   It was so nice of her.  It was just me, Dad and Dwayne for supper.  Quite a small group without the kids here.  Dad was disappointed he didn't get to see the kids.
That's about the extent of our weekend.

I am grateful for these times with my Dad.

Last Week's Visit:

Dwayne works such long hours, it's hard for him to be able to go on our weekly visits.  I enjoy the time I get to spend with them.  We sat in the back yard while Mike and his brother, Randy grilled.

I am so grateful and happy to spend time with these two precious grandchildren.

Lennaman Reunion:

The 23rd of August, we hosted the Lennaman Reunion here at the house.  We first had it Meramac Springs when my mother-in-law was alive and then after she passed away we just drifted and didn't get together.  Around ten years ago, I decided to follow Dodie's (my mother-in-law) lead and start up the reunion again.  We started having the reunion at the lake.  It is so hot in August that about five years ago, Dwayne and I started having it at our house.  It is always the third Saturday of each month.
We had about fifty people attend.  Aunt Carol is the only living relative of Dodie's generation.  Aunt Carol was married to Dodie's brother, Lee Roy Lennaman.  We had a good time visiting.  Some of the IL relatives make it a weekend outing and camp out at Huzzah Valley.  They go floating on Friday and Sunday and make our reunion a lot of fun on Saturday.  I'm glad we're continuing this tradition as it keeps us all in touch.  It's funny how fast a year goes by.

I am grateful for the Lennaman Family and fond memories of Dodie.

Dwayne turns 60:

We had a barbecue birthday party for Dwayne and our friend, Bobbi Tynes' 60th birthdays.
We had quite a few friends and our kids at the party.  We had a good time.

I'm grateful for Dwayne turning 60 and being able to celebrate with family and friends.

July Update:

Where did the month go?  We're such exciting people.  Dwayne and Todd both had sinus infections and headaches.  We had supper one Saturday night and after supper, Michelle went to their house to get her netty pots and oils.  Dwayne and Todd cleaned out their sinuses while Michelle and I watched.

Cash spent the night with us mid July and was so excited to ride the truck all weekend.  Unfortunetly, he came down with a fever.  He wasn't sick or had a cold, just running a temp.  Grandma got lots of cuddling and rocking in.  We had Sunday dinner the next day and Cash still wasn't up to normal.  April said he just laid around when he got hoe and went to bed early.   Monday, he was fine
Weekly Visit:
See that ornery little grin?

I so enjoy these weekly (or sometimes every other week) visits.  I hate it Dwayne can't go over.  He works in St. Louis and is just too tired to go.  We usually call him so Cash can talk to Pa.

I'm grateful for each day, the mundane and the exciting times.  I'm grateful for my life.

4th of July:

We didn't do anything over the weekend.
I started my new job on Monday, July 3rd.  The hours are really great, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
4th of July:
We always go to Aunt Jessie Licklider's for the 4th.  There is always much fun, food, laughter and just plain old visiting and catching up on everyone's life.  This year we had the dinner at Jesse's son, Bryan's.  Him and Jean built a new house.  It's very nice with log beams and lots of antiques.  I like antiques but am not super big on them.  I could become an antique lover after being at their house.  They have a lot and such a variety.
Aunt Sue Elrod Morgan

Mike, me, Trevor and April

Me, Trevor and David

Dwayne and Cash

Little Miss Iva Lorraine

Reba (one of my favorite people) and Aunt Jesse

Shelley, my favorite cousin, Bette Jo, Tom and Penny
We had a good time and was nice to catch up with everyone.
Afterward, we headed to the old Elrod homestead.  Jim Elrod, (Dwayne's cousin) still lives there.  He had told us to come over for the 4th, they were having a pig roast.  Apparently, we misunderstood the time as no one was there.  They had it on the Saturday before.  Dwayne still had a good time looking around Elrod Landing and remembering all the fun they had there growing up.

A nice weekend and I'm grateful for a time of gathering.
