Weekend Update:

Friday and Saturday, nothing much going on.
Sunday:
St. Elizabeth picnic was today.  I went to church and then we went over to the picnic.  Lots of good food and activities.  It was too hot to stay and look at everything.  April's shift to work started at 3:30 til closing so Dwayne and I went to stay with the kids while she worked.  Cash had to go for a walk with grandpa so I got some sweet time with Iva.  Actually, (Finally) Cash is starting to like his Grandma a little more.  He sits on my lap quite a bit and of course I play hide n seek with him or whatever he chooses.  Iva is starting to get curly hair.  April's was very curly.  Not sure if April likes her curly hair or not but I do.  Brings back memories.  When April was little she didn't think boys should have quirls as she said it.  She was always telling Chad he needed to get rid of his quirls.

I am grateful for these times in my life.

Party Weekend:

Friday:
Long work day.  When I got  home Dwayne was asleep on the couch.  His knee has been hurting him alot so he went to the doctor that day.  I think the pain and the muscle relaxers wore him out.
Saturday:
Dwayne just sat in his chair all day with his knee propped up watching TV.  Which he needs the extra rest anyway as he works so hard and drives back and forth to St. Louis every day.
I took a trip to the dreaded WalMart.  Came home and fixed my covered dishes to take that evening.  My oldest niece, Tammy married a good friend. David Hayes.  David has been around our family for years as he's my nephew, Wayne's best friend.  Tammy and David had never met until my Mom's funeral.  This is the second wedding in our family that they met at Mom's funeral.  It's like she gave her blessing.
David and Tammy had gotten married the week before and the celebration was at their house Saturday night.  We had a great time.  Saw many people we hadn't seen in years and some of our extended family.  I didn't get any pictures.
Sunday:
I went to church, then home to make covered dishes for MacKensie's Graduation Party at Lion's Club Park.  The menu was Mexican and there was alot of good food there.
Not sure what Katie and Judy were talking about.  Looks serious.

Despite the heat, we had a good time celebrating Kensie's graduation.

I am grateful for these times with my family.

Wednesday Visit:

April has been coming over on Wednesdays since she's on maternity leave.  This time, I went to her house.  She had a hair appointment and I got to play with the kids.  While Iva napped, Cash and I played with tractors and watched Finding Nemo.  He sat on my lap several different times.  I so enjoyed that as it's usually just all about Grandpa.
After April came back, I had a doctor's appointment in Jeff City.  Before I left a big storm came up.  The wind was so strong it was snapping off tree limbs.  It rained really hard.  After the rain let up a little, I left.  I was driving in pouring down rain most of the way and on an unfamiliar road.  I was five minutes late for my appointment.
I had never asked Dr. Galbreth what all he had to do with my shoulder.  I knew about the rotator cuff tear and the calcium deposits on the tendons but I did not know my bicep also had a tear in it.  I've done exceptionally well on healing but can't bring my arm backwards very good.  He said that was from the bicep tear.  Sooo,  six more weeks of physical therapy.
The rain had let up when I was leaving.  I saw a lot of trees down.  When I get home, we didn't have electricity.  Apparently, it had been off since 1:30.  We had sandwiches for supper and then played rummy.  I should know better than to play rummy with Dwayne. HE ALWAYS WINS!  Really, I rarely win a game.  If I do win, Dwayne says he felt sorry for me and let me win.  Then I get kinda mad because he could be right.  I'll keep trying and maybe someday I'll get as good or at least better at winning.  Dwayne can't remember anything, but come to a card game-he remembers the cards that have been played.  No fair.  lol
After it got too dark for cards, Dwayne said he was going to bed on the floor because he didn't want to get the sheets dirty from work.  He told me to wake him up when the electricity came back on so he could take a shower.
Now what to do in the dark for hours.  I lit a candle and used it as my light to fix Dwayne's lunch for the next day and my coffee pot ready for me.  I love my coffee in the morning.
We got a teaser when the electric came back on for about five minutes.  I called Chad as his had been out too, his was now on.  Called the electric company and told them the end of Hwy A was still out.  The poor workers were really getting a workout.  Two electric poles had snapped and they had to go to Dixon to get poles for replacement.
If you don't think a sleep apnea machine is vital. it definitely is.  I could hear Dwayne snoring LOUD from the living room.  It helps tremendously with his snoring but most important,  his breathing.
I  tried to sleep in the living room and slept some then a few minutes before midnight the electric came back on.  I had to have my TV fix, so I stayed up to watch a couple shows.  Didn't want to get up the next morning but oh well.  As it turned out, I must have been getting sick.  I wound up staying home.

I am grateful we didn't have any major damage to our yard.

Weekend Update:

Friday:
Went to eat at Sput's.  Ran into several friends.  Always good to visit with others.
Saturday:
I made cinnamon rolls to take to our new neighbors.  They are a young couple and seem quite nice.  As it goes when you want something to turn out really good, it fails.  I ran out of powdered sugar and my icing was waayyy too thin.
Dwayne had me go to Lowe's to pick up more stain.  He is staining the board fence he put up last year.  The cans didn't look right to me at Lowe's so I called Dwayne to check the bucket.  As luck would have it, his cell was on the charger.  After I had them load two buckets, I decided it wasn't the right one and left it in a side aisle.  (I'm sure they loved me for that).  Come home and look at the stain and it was what I had in my cart.  Darn it!!
Sunday:
Once again, I did not go to church.  I have definitely got to get back in the habit.  Dwayne seemed upset I didn't go to church, not sure why since he hasn't gone with in years.  But I always have gone to church and I think I'm hurting my witness to him by not attending.
We were suppose to have a family supper.  Todd and Michelle had plans.  Mike had to work on his truck and Chad went to the river.  So that left me, Dwayne, Dad, April, Cash and Iva.  We still had a good time.

Cash love to play in my roll top desk.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to continue my Mom's tradition of having family meals.  Although, I don't do it every Sunday and not nearly as good as Mom's, but it's a start.

Weekend of July 4th

Friday:
Ate at Alec's Pizza in Rolla then on to the carnival to get our tickets for the car giveaway.
Tickets used to be six for $5, now they're three for $5.  Man I don't like change!  Just keep things as they were.  lol  Guess everything is higher.
Saturday:
I had to work half a day.  So rainy out, we didn't go anywhere.  Chad was going to the river but that didn't happen.
Sunday:
Started a batch of cinnamon rolls and then went to a friend of mine's granddaughters Memorial Service.
Adara Leigh McCormack.
McCormack Brothers
Kevin, Mike, Freddie, Tim, Jerry  Danny wasn't there.
A sad time but got to visit with people I haven't seen in a long time.
Came home and finished up my cinnamon rolls (they sat for a little too long) and baked beans and off we went.  Our good friends, Mike and Susan Southard invited all of us over for a meal and fireworks.  Chad, Desmon, Todd and Michelle joined us there.  April wasn't feeling well so she didn't make it.
The rain almost ruined the fireworks but they still had a great show.  It's good to see Carrie and Kelsey.  We were together almost all the time when they were young

Cash and Iva

We went to Aunt Jesse and Uncle Warren Licklider's for their Annual Elrod Reunion.  Todd, Michelle, April and Mike were there but Chad and Desmon went to the river.  You can't go away hungry around this family.  There was tons of food, all very good.  We had a great day visiting and they all enjoyed getting to see Iva.

I am grateful for our country and freedom and the family and friends visited over the weekend.

Wednesday Visit:

April and the kids came down last Wednesday for a visit.  April took Cash to the movies so Iva and I had the afternoon to ourselves.
Notice her shirt says Perfect.  My dad is quite the character.  He has always said there were two perfect people, God and him.  When April came along, she was added to the list of perfect.  I'm not sure what the rest of the grandkids thought of this...  Well, now Iva is added to the  list.  There is now three perfect people, Dad, April and Iva.  I found this shirt and I thought it was perfect.  Dad always says this in a joking manner but he's also serious.  Just part of the character he is.

Little Miss Perfect

Love these weekly visits and April stays until Dwayne gets home, so he gets to see them, too.

I'm grateful for our visits together.
